Detailed ChefShop experience

I placed an order for several items: a bottle of balsamic vinegar, some dried pasta, and a new chef knife. The ordering process on the website was straightforward enough, though the search bar could be a bit more precise. Shipping took about 4 business days to arrive, which was within their estimated window. Everything was carefully packaged; the knife was securely boxed, and the vinegar bottle had plenty of padding. The chef knife feels substantial and well-balanced, a definite upgrade. The balsamic is rich, exactly what I expected. I had a quick question about a product before ordering and used their online chat, which was surprisingly responsive. No complaints about quality or usability for any of the items.

Pretty happy with it

So I was just browsing around for some fancy honey and saw ChefShop. Decided to try them out. Got a jar of honey and some shortbread. It arrived two days earlier than the tracking said, which was a nice surprise. The honey is super tasty, and the shortbread disappeared pretty fast. Everything was just fine, no weird issues or anything. Felt good getting something a bit nicer than what I usually buy.

Decent selection, minor issue

I picked up some dried pasta and a bag of their coffee beans. The product selection is good, lots of interesting items you don't find everywhere. My order shipped on time and arrived in good condition. The coffee is really fresh, and the pasta cooked up perfectly. My only small complaint was that one of the coffee bags seemed a bit under-sealed, though it didn't affect the quality. Overall, a solid place to get specialty ingredients. I might check out their spices next time.

Always reliable quality

Another great order from ChefShop. I've bought their olive oil and some spices a few times now, and the quality is always consistent. This time I got some more of their extra virgin olive oil and a few jars of tinned fish. Arrived quickly and everything was packed well, just like my previous orders. Good to know I can count on them.

Mostly good experience

I ordered some arborio rice, a couple of spice blends, and a jar of olive tapenade. The selection was impressive, and the website was easy to navigate. Shipping was prompt, and everything arrived intact. The quality of the rice and spices seems very good. My only slight critique is that the tapenade jar felt a bit smaller than I anticipated for the price, though the taste was excellent. Overall, a positive shopping experience, but paying closer attention to product sizes might help manage expectations better.

Got a good deal

I was looking for some specific spices and stumbled on ChefShop. Signed up for their newsletter and got a discount on my first order, which was great. I bought some smoked paprika and herbes de provence. The prices felt fair even before the discount, but with it, it was definitely worth it. Saved a bit on shipping too since I hit the free shipping threshold by adding a chocolate bar. Overall, felt like a smart purchase and good value for what I got.

Absolutely loved my order!

Oh my goodness, I just received my order from ChefShop and I'm so happy! I got the vanilla beans and a couple of their chocolate bars, and everything is just amazing. The vanilla smells incredible, so fragrant. And the chocolate? Seriously good. It arrived so quickly too, packed really nicely so nothing melted. I'm already planning my next purchase, maybe some truffle oil or a gift basket for my sister. You absolutely have to try them!

Great quality and service

I recently purchased the saffron threads and a jar of olive tapenade. The ordering process was straightforward; the website was easy to navigate. Shipping was surprisingly fast, arriving two days earlier than the tracking said it would. Everything was packed very securely, no breakages. I had a question about the saffron's origin, so I used their online chat. Customer support was helpful and gave me the information right away. Both products are high quality, exactly as described. The tapenade is delicious, very authentic. I'm very pleased with my ChefShop experience.

Does ChefShop do that free shipping thing if you spend enough? Or do I need a code for that?

Pretty sure it's automatic. Over $150 and it just pops up free at checkout. No code needed.

Thinking about getting some fancy olive oil. How does ChefShop compare to Zingerman's? Price and quality wise.

D Derek 1 month ago
ChefShop's olive oil is seriously next level. I find their selection a bit more curated and specific, whereas Zingerman's is good but maybe a broader range. Prices are comparable for similar quality stuff.

ChefShop probably has a slight edge on olive oil expertise specifically, like really knowing their producers. Zingerman's has a massive catalog, so it's a bit different. I'd go ChefShop for the best EVOO.

Anyone ever tried to return a food item? Like if a jar of something arrives broken or not what I expected. Is it a huge hassle?

J June 2 months ago
I had a jar of olives break once, they replaced it no questions asked. Super easy process, just email them. For non-damaged food, I'm not entirely sure though.

AFAIK, they're pretty good about damaged stuff. For just 'didn't like it,' I think food items are generally final sale because of the nature of it, but always worth checking their policy or reaching out to them.

Can you stack coupon codes on ChefShop? Got a newsletter one and maybe another from somewhere else.

N Nick 2 months ago
Nah, pretty sure you can only use one code per order. Tried it once, didn't work for me.

AFAIK, most places don't let you stack 'em. ChefShop is probably the same, just pick the best one.

how does chefshop compare to zingerman's? trying to decide where to get some nice pantry stuff.

S Sam Hughes 2 months ago
Zingerman's has a massive selection and is super well-known, but ChefShop feels a bit more curated, especially for oils and vinegars. Quality is high at both, really depends on what specific items you're after.

I've bought from both. ChefShop's olive oil selection is seriously next level. Zingerman's is great for other specialty stuff, but for the actual cooking ingredients, I lean ChefShop.
